How do I know it won’t be the same?
How do I know it won’t be worse?
How am I supposed to trust medical professionals again?
What will it mean if it is better?
What if this is a terrible decision? What does that mean for my other experience and my other baby?
If these questions have kept you up at night, you are not alone. Pregnancy after birth trauma can feel overwhelming and full of what-if’s. The memory of your past trauma constantly resurfacing as you’re just trying to enjoy your pregnancy.
This group is for anyone who is considering a future pregnancy after birth trauma or currently pregnant.
Planning for another pregnancy and birth after a traumatic one can feel impossible. You’re asking our brain to go back to the event in which it was traumatized. You’re hopeful for a different outcome, but terrified for the chance of a similar one. A subsequent pregnancy and birth after birth trauma brings with it many complicated and often conflicting emotions. Often, emotions that no one else seems to understand.
My hope is that this group will be a comforting place where you can share these feelings, get the validation you deserve, and also not feel so alone in the process.
This group will weave the exploration of emotions together with practical tools and planning as you navigate this subsequent pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.
What you can expect:
-
- A warm and welcoming space to connect with others who are navigating similar emotions and fears as they prepare for a subsequent pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
- A better understanding of trauma and the impact it has on the brain and therefore the way you relate to the world.
- Tools and skills to cope with and navigate triggers, specifically related to a subsequent, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
- Concrete planning for a subsequent birth and based on your specific past experiences.
This group is facilitated by Kayleigh Summers.
